Yoko Shimomura wins Lifetime Achievement, Fawzi Mesmar Ambassador Award at GDC

While Larian came on stage for four "Baldur's Gate 3" trophies at the Game Developers Choice Awards 2024, among them Game of the Year, two industry people were awarded prices for their work: Japanese composer Yoko Shimomura won Lifetime Achievement, Fawzi Mesmar of Ubisoft the Ambassador Award. As surprise hit winner came out "Venba" by Visai Games.

At this year’s GDC awards, the big winner couldn’t have been more unsurprising: With four awards received, "Baldur’s Gate 3" by Larian Games not only takes the most trophies with them, but also the audience popularity award and the Game of the Year trophy. Additionally, Best Narrative and Best Design went to the game. Two titles for Best Innovation and Best Technology went to Nintendo’s "Tears of the Kingdom". The only more traditional indie game in the ranks also got two titles: With Best Debut and the Social Impact Award, "Venba" bei Visai Games was honored.
